ICU One More Night But No Major Concerns

I spent the entire day in the ICU with Lisa today and unfortunately she will remain in ICU for one more night.  The main reason for the additional night (the extra time in ICU is not uncommon with this surgery) is it took them longer then expected to get a handle on pain management coming out of surgery.  Pancreatitis patients tend to build up high tolerances to pain meds because they are used so regularly to treat the disease prior to having surgery.  The good news is it seems they have found the right level of pain meds for Lisa and she is resting more comfortably this evening.

Lisa's vital signs remain within good ranges and in fact if that continues through the night Dr. Levy said there is no reason why she won't be moved out of the ICU tomorrow.  We are all very hopeful that will happen.

Zach and Kaitlyn were able to join me for about an hour this afternoon and Lisa really enjoyed there visit.

Thanks again for all your on-going thoughts and prayers, the power of prayer is an AWESOME thing.

  1. Woke up thinking about you guys! Praying she can be moved to a private room and the pain management is under control and the healing process goes as planned w/o any complications. Praying too for your rest (I know it's hard to sleep at the hospital), and a safe trip back to OU for Zach. Tell Kaitlyn she's welcome in my office anytime. I was happy to be there for her on Friday & will continue to be there. Love to you all ~

  3. Thank you for the updates! It helps to know exactly what to pray for and reminds us all of how great our God is! Praying Lisa will get moved out of ICU today. May God bless you with His peace and give you continued strength and rest as I know how hard it is on everyone when a loved one is ill. Praise the Lord things are going along so well.

  4. Tim, thanks for the updates. It does make it easier for us to know what's going on so we can be specific in our prayers for Lisa and the family. I remember doing a blog for Bryan's friends and family during his surgery and not only did it help everyone stay informed, it was therapeutic for me as well. Take care and keep up the good support you are for Lisa.
