Alright, don't faint or think I'm dying since I'm writing so close to the last one, but if you are a Grey's Anatomy watcher, this one is for you!
About 2 weeks ago, the TV series Grey's Anatomy had a story line about a patient who had the Auto Islet Transplant. It was funny, I usually record the show than watch it later, so I don't have to watch the commercials, anyway, about 1/2 into the show I received about 10 text messages from friends and family asking if I was watching and if not I better start watching.
In this episode, they had a patient who was having some sort of pancreas surgery, and during the surgery they decided they would try the Auto Islet Transplant...funny it took me almost 5 months for insurance and Dr's to get on board with it all. They were also able to get out the Islets in a mere 90 minutes, with mine it took the Speciality Surgeons almost 3 hours to isolate the 358,000 islets from my pancreas. Dr. Levey told me that my number of Islet's was unexpectedly high number (this was a good thing for me). The show stated the norm was to get out at least a million Islets...NOT! The most funny part to the story was when Dr. Bailey came back after an hour from the surgery and informed the family, the islets were working and the patient would not need insulin. I just sat there and laughed. My son Zach said.."You slacker, why did it take you so long". Just so you all know or you may want a little clarification.....life on TV is not all that it cracks up to be. Shocker huh? So if you're thinking about having this surgery, give me a call, I let you in on the truth.
Now with that said, McDreamy and McSteamy are still fun to watch so I don't want to discourage you from that!
Good night my friends!
